We were running down the airport corridor, as I was yelling to my mom, ”Hurry up or we're going to miss the plane!”
It was one of best day of my life. We had gone to Barbados before and we had a fantastic time. But this time it was going to be awesome because my whole family was going to be there! So here we were rushing as we always did when we were in an airport.
“We don't really need to rush!” my mom yelled, as she was ran along beside me.
I yelled back, “Oh sorry. I just get so excited when we go to Barbados.”
So once we checked in, got through security and arrived in the waiting room, the voice of a lady came on the intercom and said,
“Tracy Caunning please come to the desk at gate 24.”
She took a really long time so after a while I started to worry and I couldn't see her so I went over to the booth and my mom was there she said,
“I was just about to get a first class ticket, I was going to say I was alone!”
I frowned and both, the lady at the desk and my mom laughed.
After that my mom and me went back to our seats in the waiting room. I started to play Gameboy and my mom tried finish off her book. Then the lady came on the intercom and said,
“All passengers wishing to board flight 124 who require assistance or have small children please report to gate 24”
Then I started to get really excited so I (stupidly enough) decided that I would go and check our e-mails before we left.
In the airport they have these neat yellow computers that you have to pay to use. You get something like 15 minutes for 50 cents. So, I ran to the nearest computer that was 5 minutes down the hall. Then I put my money in the computer and turned it on. On the computer I checked all of our e-mails. We have about 4 of them so it took me about 10 minutes to check them all. Then I played a few games. I was right into one game when all of a sudden I heard,
“Calling all passengers on flight 124 to Barbados. We are now boarding all passengers. Please report to gate 24.”
So I ran down the hall as fast as I could. I thought I was too late but then I saw the small end of the line coming from our gate. So I went back to our seats looking for my mom. She wasn't there! Then I panicked. And I almost started to cry but then my mom came running over saying that she was just over waiting for me in the line.
Once we finally boarded the plane and got settled the movie Harry Potter started. So we watched the movie and we arrived in Barbados.
It was extremely hot in Barbados and since it was so hot we walked across the runway to deboard the plane. Then we got a cab to take us to our resort with my grandparents. At the villa my Nana, Granddad, Aunt Joan and Uncle Mike were waiting for us.
As soon as we did our hugs and kisses we went off to the beach. We played Frisbee and made sandcastles together. After the sun set we walked back to the villa, unpacked and went to sleep for the night.
The next day my Aunt Kimberly arrived at the villa. She arrived late because her plans were delayed by 2 days because of flight problems. Once she got settled in we all went down to the beach for another day of beach fun. After we got back and we all got showered and were clean, I went down to the courtyard and saw some kids playing. The boys name was Crisdence, and he was from Latvia. He spoke a little English and his first language was Latvian. It was cool playing with Chris because he didn't know muck English and I didn't know any Latvian so he taught me a little of his language and I taught him a little of mine. After that Chris and me played a lot.
The next day my Uncle and my Aunt Joan departed for home. After they left my other Aunt and my Granddad went out to rent a car. I went too. We ended up getting lost and we had to ask for directions (my granddad hates having to do that) but one good thing about being lost is that we actually managed to see Bill Gate's cruise ship. It was humongous! Then we went down to the beach as we do every day.
The next day was a beach but this time we stayed from breakfast until sun set. We played in the water and I played with Crisdence.
On Tuesday we went to the wildlife reserve. We say big turtles; fish and we saw some brown monkeys. That night we went to a restaurant called the Blue Monkey. The Blue Monkey was cool because the menu was up on the wall and there were blue monkeys painted all over the walls. Once we were totally stuffed we went home and played UNO. UNO is a card game that is kind of like crazy eights. Then it was bedtime. So I went to bed, read and went to sleep. On Wednesday we drove around the town for quite a while. Taking in all the sights and sounds of Barbados. Also we went to Harrison's Caves. We saw stalactites and stalagmites. That was one of my favourite things in Barbados.
On Thursday my Aunt and me decided to go to Bridgetown, but we decided to go on the bus instead of going in our car. On the bus you have a lot more fun than in a car because the bus drivers are all trying to get to the passengers first because all of the buses were ran by different people. You've never gone on a real bus unless you've gone on a bus in Barbados.
The next day was another long beach day because we had to start to get ready to go. So after the beach day it was Saturday and it was time to go. So we finished our packing and tried to it the best day ever. Then we called a taxi and went to the airport. This time we really were late. We just made it to our gate when we had to board. So we got on the plane and flew to Toronto. There we went to a Greek restaurant and watched a movie that wasn't even out in theatres in Nova Scotia.
The next day we boarded the plane to YHZ and flew away from our dream hotel. Once we got to Halifax we had a snack at the airport.
Then my dad picked us up and we arrived back home. It was a long but excellent week in Barbados with my family.
