Desiderata is the code of life. it is the road to happiness. It makes you come to terms with everything even if the whole world disagrees with you. It is you armor against all the troubles in the world. It gives you inner peace amid chaos and strife.
There are times when you doubt yourself. Dubious about your capacity to do things. Then, desiderata reminds you to look at things on the bright side because even the ugliest of things have purpose. It reminds you that everyone has his own burden to bear and that it's supposed to make you come out stronger in the end.
More importantly, it teaches you about the importance of love. No matter how bitter and disillusioned you become, that thing called love is always rooted at the deepest corner of your heart. It only takes another good heart to awaken it.
And most important of all, it reminds us that we are lucky to be alive. Whatever our positions are in life or what other people think about us we are all the same in the eyes of God. We are supposed to reap something good from our experiences in life to share them to our children so they too can see how lucky they are.
There are far too many things that have been said about life and happiness. Here, we discover that we don't have to look farther to attain this elusive quest. The answer lies within us and to discover it is a wealth beyond compare.
