Relationship is a situation where two different individuals are in a certain understanding of things. Most likely relationship is given much important if it is a romantic one. Meaning the individuals involved are in a situation of a romantic relationship, some sexual one. Well that is at least what we understand about it. But relationship is not just about romantic relationship it is of varieties. What is going between us and our neighbors is a relationship. May not be out typical type of relationship but it is a relationship. In one way or another it affects us and what we may become in the future. Our relationship may make or unmake us. It could greatly affect our understanding of everything thus it is important that every relationship should be given importance and should be appreciated. So the question will be what will make a relationship works? How could it be nurtured?
A relationship between family members is the most important of all. It is where we could determine if we could handle any relationships or offer of relationship that may come our way in the future. If we grow up in a family where our relationship and interactions with each member is quite a blur and we won't be able to overcome it positively, then it can be expected that when we enter in a relationship with someone we would be having the same difficulties in dealing with it. What I am trying to point out is, in every relationship there is something aside from the desire to enter into one that each individual should have to make it work. In family's it is love and respect. They always say that love covers multitude of sins yet I don't agree with it as long as there is no respect. Usually an individual would say I love you and yet they he/she doesn't respect each others belief on things so in the end the relationship wouldn't work at all. I could even say that when you say you love a person and yet you don't respect him, you don't love him at the very context of the word love. Thus the two should be together. With parents relationship with their children love is essential. Their love could nurture their relationship. With friends and neighbors, what usually makes the relationship work is respect. We may dislike a certain individual in many ways but as long we respected them as an individual, rest assured that the relationship would last the way it should be.
In other words, relationship could come out in different kinds, it could be filial, romantic etc. but it only requires two things for it to work, love and respect. Love for a relationship to be valued more and nurtured. Respect for it to last.
