Has this ever happened to you?
You are traveling in a taxi. An airconditioned car that is moving slowly through the traffic and the driver puts on a CD or a radio station that plays the music of your youth.
You sit back and listen to the music you loved when you were young and your life was full of dreams of happiness when you danced with the beautiful girls you knew and created memories to last a lifetime.
I felt so good I didn't even feel bad or upset when the driver dropped me short of my destination. I walked back to my office feeling really happy and pleasantly returned to my desk thinking of how wonderful those days were.
There is no doubt that music and the nostalgia to be gotten from it are one of the lovely happenings of anyone's life. I used to see the older people smile with so much joy while listening to their music when I was a boy. Now I am having this experience myself.
In Trinidad we have calypso music mixed with the famous songs of the great American soul singers and that rhythm and blues music that made celebrities of so many singers from the impoverished neighbourhoods of America.
I truly did not think this could have been such an enhancing experience. I would like to personally thank all those who played music for me in the parties of my early days and those older and more charming singers who entertained in the nighclubs of Trinidad and Tobago.
This time, at least, nostalgia was charming and wonderfull.
