The Fruits of My Labor

Sharing experiences during our Christmas Party at DIRA.

"The hardworking farmer should be the first to receive a share of the crops." (2 Timothy 2:6)

"Success is the good fortune that comes from aspiration, desperation, perspiration and inspiration." by Evan Esar.

17th day of December 2007, 8:00 pm - 12:00 am the next day:

We celebrated our first DIRA Christmas Party in Highway 54 Plaza Building. It was my most memorable one so far. I never thought that the planned activities for the party, particularly the giving of Special Awards to the Staff would materialize because I was expecting that it would be dull and boring just like the previous years.

Well, for the first time in my 3 years stay in this Agency, I felt so overwhelmed being chosen as the "Employee of the Year 2006". I was so stunned by the gifts given to me by my boss, 4 huge boxes of surprise gifts...huh!

I wasn't paying much attention to whatever it was inside those boxes, my mind was quite perplexed of the way my boss expressed her gratitude. It was so heartwarming to know that somehow she appreciated all the efforts and hard work that we have extended in the success of her business.

I valued the presents she has given me but it's the thought that counts that I cherish the most. Material things may vanished as time passes by but never will I forget that somehow she cared for us.

2 Timothy 2:6 (New International Version)

"The hardworking farmer should be the first to receive a share of the crops."

Reflecting on this passage, I have come to realize that being workaholic isn't that bad at all. It's always kinda toxic to one's health and oftentimes causes great torture particularly in the physical and emotional aspect of the individual. I can't even count the instances when I got weary of the miserable environment that I'm in to. We worked from opening until our energies died down at the end of the night, sometimes we go home on or before midnight feeling so sluggish the next day. (I'm glad we have been thought to get used to morning-the-night sessions in my college years... heheh.) I could barely utilize my day-off for quite sometime because I do have to go to the office to attend urgent tasks. This has been the routine I got used to since the very first day of this job, much tougher than time shifts of call center agents and quite close to the dedication of those medical and para-medical staff attending emergency situations in an ungodly hour.

Philippians 4:13 (New International Version)

"I can do everything through him who gives me strength."

If it weren't for God's loving grace, I might have given up a long time ago. He is the only One who keeps me on the right track at the most difficult times of my job. No matter how hard it is I always entrust everything in His care. So be it.

"Times of great calamity and confusion have ever been productive of the greatest minds. The purest ore is produced from the hottest furnace, and the brightest thunderbolt is elicited from the darkest storm." by Charles Caleb Colton.
