One day, about a month ago, I woke up from an afternoon nap and thought I could hear someone in the house. At first, I thought it was just Freaky Cat doing her daily workout running on thunder paws around the living room in circles, bouncing off the furniture, so I ignored the sound and went to the bathroom. But from the bathroom, I could hear water running in the kitchen, and as talented as Freaky Cat is, she doesn't like water, so I don't think she has bothered to learn how to turn the taps on.
I heard footsteps in the kitchen, and the sound of someone rummaging, and I wondered if I should call 911 first and wait for help, or take the phone with me with 911 dialed and ready to press talk. I opted for the latter. My husband almost never comes home early from work, and if one of the kids was brought home for some reason, I'm sure they would have called first, but I really don't think an intruder would be running water in my kitchen. I tiptoed through the hallway, peeked around the corner, and there was my dad - making coffee!
He said that he had rung the doorbell a few times, and since it was unlocked, and he had just driven for about two hours to come visit me, he just came in. My bedroom door was closed (to keep Freaky Cat out) and the TV was going. Dad knocked on the door and called my name a couple of times; correctly assumed that I must be sleeping, so he went to the kitchen to make some coffee while waiting for me to wake up.
I'm sure he'll call ahead next time. I hope I'll hear the phone ring.
I like this story. That so cool of your Dad to come for a vist to see how you were doing? Something I have never experinced.
I have read some your other story's too. Getting updated as to what going on in your life. Knowing you, your faith in God has always encouraged me, caused me to look to Christ and given me hope. Keep writing. Thanks.
