Daily Reminders

To see her face in the finger paintings on the fridge...

To feel her in the breeze, breathing gently
through his hair!
Or in the midnight sky, her eyes so loving
pupils expanding!
Cupping handfuls of earth in the garden
for a moment she seemed tangible.
He imagined her standing before him:
naked, perfect, until he moved
toward her then the vision would fade.
His introspective gaze would linger
on the ring of lilies in the pond
like the lace crown she had worn
on their wedding night - that night
in which he knew her body and soul
as intimately as the moon and tide.
To sense her in all facets
of a light prismed raindrop, deliquesced
into the eternal ocean...
Still there, he knew,
still there.
