I am the millionaire next door I am the prince who scares away The goblins in your closet I am but a modest shopkeeper I whisper sweet nothings in my sleep I dance, but a little at my desk When the music plays, my toes can help but tap I take two teaspoons of honey in my tea My face blushes bright red sometimes, When I think you can see me I am a salesperson worrying about quotas I am the landlord who must collect the rent I am a soldier in a far away land I defend freedom and the American dream And every dollar spent It's my first day of school And I feel as though I'm only two Yet, I'm much older than my classmates And I'm sitting next to you I'm in love with movies, they fill my life I'm no connoisseur, but my heart never lies Flowers brighten my mood Red, yellow, orange and fushias Forgive me if I have ever been rude I am only a simple child, with so much more to learn You may think I should know more, you may think I don't But it's what's on the inside that matters most Even if on the outside, I appear to be all grown up.
Never lose that inner child! It is ours to nurture.
