Love Me Hardly

After the end of a love relationship.

Awake my heart is turning blue.
I never knew I could feel this way for you.
You held me in love’s embrace.
I kissed you on your tender face.
But time has found me out a fool.
And now I sit and think of you.
What was it that made me long?
For all the things I knew were wrong?
And even though I know it’s rude.
I find myself still thinking of you.
For a choice may makes us weep.
When all that is pretty is at our feet.
That makes me no less a fool.
Cause I am still waiting by the pool.
What is it that makes me think too much of you?
Is it the laughter in your eyes, or the broken memories in your sighs?
Could it be that I was your tool,
Or was it never anything but a fool?
What use is it to compromise?
And find out that fairy tales are all lies.
I never really believed it was true.
Yet still I am thinking but of you.
A simple thought I can’t escape.
Like a prison of the fates.
A twisted look inside, and all you find is wanting eyes.
I really was a giant fool.
But I just can’t stop thinking of you.
