Moggy

A feline friend of mine

I still dont know from whence that cat came from, he just arrived you see.
His long fur a tangle of black and white and skin that didnt seem to fit.
He wandered in on a rainy night looking bedraggled and so forlorn and hungry.
Not at all scared at all as he looked around the house not missing a bit
No room was left unchecked as he nosed around his new home.

He scoffed every morsel of food given to him then slept on my bed
I could see he had decided to move in and stay
For the first week he ate and as soon as he was fed,
would curl up by the fire and sleep for the most of the day.

Night time of course as we all know is playtime for cats with lots of noise,
and in true cat style he played and ran thought the house making a din to wake the dead.
No one came to claim him not even one call,is he some girl or boys
loved pet missed badly. The lost and found ads I read.
Nope no one arrived to claim the univited guest at all.

The two of them acted like long lost friends just happy to play
and eat the food offered each day and look for more,
They played and slept and I could see, that cat was here to stay
what happened to the one cat only rule, one cat and no more.

Each chance he got to sit on my knee,
he would jump up and snuggle in and snore.
A week had gone by and no one had claimed him, that black and white moggy
was it seemed destined to live with me.

Who was I to argue with him, maybe its time to name the moggy who no longer looked such a sorry sight?
and Whisky got his name and a place in my heart.
He looked so much nicer than he did when he arrived that night.

He runs a mile if You wear black shoes or if you are a small child thats true
perhaps he was ill treated maybe thats why he ran away.
Its so hard to believed he has been here over a year in fact almost two
and each night he curls up on the bed and sleeps until 2 a, and its time to play.

I wouldnt be without that brat of a cat
he brings a smile to each and every day.
He decided to live with me and that is that,
You dont own cats they own you.so they say.
