My Dearest Mother

A poem. A son's feelings towards his mother about the girl he loves.

My hurt and pain comes from a wounded heart.
I am a confused man who doesn't know what to do.
Right now I am caught between
the two most important people in my life.

You and my girl.
You know I love you with all my heart.
But can't you see, that just because I am loving her,
doesn't mean that I have stopped loving you.

My Dearest Mother,
I love you with all my heart too.
I hope that you can see that.

My Dearest Mother,
I do everything for you.
And yet you seem so sad.
I try to make you proud, but I always seem to fail.

My Dearest Mother,
I don't want to fight with you and hear our voices rise.
I want to make peace with you.
But how can I when no one understands me?

My Dearest Mother,
I hope that you can see, I love you and my girl at the same time.
I want you to know that
I do not love you any less than I did before.

All I ask is why do you always seem to hurt me this way,
when all I do is try to please?
My dearest Mother,
Why do you make me cry?
I love you.
