Earlier in the Day

Recounting what happened earlier in the day before the wait. High hopes and expectations.

It has been a long 9 months wait and finally the time was closing, around 7 am, my wife detected signs that the baby was ready to come. I wanted to take the day off but was told that it was not necessary, so I went to the office as usual. For the rest of the day I was anxiously waiting for a call (but there was none). After work, I went home and was told that my wife has already admitted herself to the hospital.

Apparently, she did that at 5 pm (after attending her course). I visited her and stayed with her until 10 pm and went home. I went to see her the next morning around 9 am. Went to her room but was told that she had been transferred to the labor room. As I approached the labor room, I overheard some of the nurses telling my wife that the baby's heartbeat should not be below 120. However, I saw on the monitor that it was 90 at the time. I thought she was in good hands since she is the sister (head nurse) of that ward.

They had already informed the doctor but were only told to wait until the heartbeat recovered. The doctor arrived only at 10:15 even though was informed of the baby's distress before 9 am.

The nurses were with my wife at least 5 times but the doctor saw my wife only three times that day, one more time at 11 am and then the final time when he took her out for a Caesarian. This was what happened prior to the Wait.
