Knoll Research of Culture: Observation 1

If Knolls existed, these are the kinds of foods the Knoll species would like.

Note: If you are not sure what Knolls are, they are dog/hyena like creatures that stand on two legs and are only spoke of in fictional stories.

Most philosophers and scholars have not taken the time to examine and study the Knoll culture.

That's because Knolls have run them off in the past. This is because these so-called, “scholars” are trying to convert the Knolls.

Therefore, as I said earlier, they were run off.

What you have to concentrate on is amercing yourself in the culture and customs of the species. For example, if you were trying to study the culture of the Orc tribes you would have to “catch” a fever they like to call Blood Fever.

Then they would call you one of their own and would adopt you into their so-called “society” of blood and strife. Anyways, this is off-topic. Let's get down to the good stuff.

Observation 1: Common/Rare Foods and Delicacies

My werewolf brethren thought I should not go into Knoll territory. They told stories of other werewolf philosophers who had crossed the borderline between

Werewolf territory and Knoll territory and, in less than twenty minutes, they were dead, stripped bare of all belongings, and left to dry in the sun.

Now, these stories, cannot at all, be true on one account: There has not been any reported Knoll slayings in over 3 centuries. So, I decided to walk to a small Knoll village that was named Garnet. It was about the size of a small Greek city-state that had been built about one hundred yards away from the Forest of Spears, which was, and still is, the beginning of Werewolf territory. It wasn't very difficult getting into the village, all I had to do was ask the village guard if I could enter the village.

After I passed the ancient, wooden gate, I decided to seek out the village's shaman, whose name was given to me by a passerby who was just now coming out of Garnet.

This shaman's name was Cloud Eye, and the name fit him well if I remember right. His left eye contained a milky, cloudy substance that was covering the eyras. I told him I was interested in becoming a citizen and he told me there was a right of passage. Now, this right of passage is very interesting, but I will have to tell you on a different date, if that is, they let me expose the information. Anyways, now I will get down to the basic but most essential part of Knoll culture, food.

Most scholars and philosophers believe Knoll culture is based mainly on one food group: meats. This is where they are wrong; 85% of the Knoll culture lies heavily on herbivorous and insect meals. For example, one delicacy they have created is what they call a "Brown Tart." Which is a fried, Brown Bristle caterpillar with Sun Berry Blossoms woven in between the spikes for an extra spicy flavor. One "Brown Tart" takes two hours to make and requires much patience. Now on to one of my favorites: Dragon Leaf Stew. This is a very rare dish that is made in less than three minutes and is only served to military units for enhancing effects. This stew has the zest of the Dragon Leaves and leaves the consumer with a sour after taste and one side affect: the consumer can breathe fire for over three months! The broth of this stew is made up of two things, Dragon Berries and the abdomen of the Fire Spiders. These two things can only be found one place on Earth, at the base of Mount

Vesuvius. The Dragon Berries grow on Oakwood Ash trees that produce a sulfur smell. The Fire Spiders live only in one place, in hollowed out Dragon Berries.

When picking these berries, harvesters had to be very careful not to pick ones that were the homes of Fire Spiders. If one did pick a berry that happened to have a Fire

Spider in it, the Fire Spider would most likely jump out and bite the intruder. In doing this, the victim will either burst into flame, or die of extreme heat. This happens because the venom that is contained in the spider's fangs contains a chemical that will combust when attacked by white blood cells. But, as usual, I'm straying off topic, I will speak of one more food and then it's off to something else.

This next food is Cloud Eye's favorite. It is called the "Solstice Salad." This salad is only served to Shamans because it has a very peculiar side affect. When eaten, the salad immediately diffuses in the stomach acid and enhances magical properties, making magic attacks stronger and easier to cast. This salad is made from the leaves of Moon Tea trees, the nectar and petals of the flower Solstice, and the dressing is made from squashed newt eye. A famous Troll chef named Taint, who was experimenting in the kitchen one day, decided to throw some ingredients together, making the first Solstice Salad. After making his, "experiment" he decided that instead of eating it himself, he would give it to his hometown's shaman as a thank you for all the things the shaman had done for him in the past. The shaman was in a session with his apprentice so Taint left the dish on a stump next to the meditating shaman along with a note saying thank you. After the shaman was done meditating he went to the target range with his apprentice to get some fire shooting practice in before he went home. At first, the shaman did not notice the meager dish on the stump. But after his apprentice missed the target a few times, he looked away in frustration and saw it, the dish. He didn't feel like eating so he gave it to his apprentice to eat.

After the apprentice had eaten some he looked up at his teacher and said he felt different. Disregarding his apprentice's remark he asked him to shoot one more fire shot before going home. The apprentice charged up and shot. A blinding light flashed and rendered the shaman and his apprentice blinded. When his vision came back, the shaman looked at where the target was supposed to be and only saw a smoldering pile of ash. As news spread of the new food that enhanced magic attacks, more and more races tried to get their hands on the recipe but were rejected. After the Knolls had been rejected several times, being the sly, cunning ones they sometimes were, they decided to steal the recipe. After successfully stealing the recipe, the Trolls began to question each race. When they came to the Knolls, they didn't hesitate to say they stole it. That is what triggered the Blood Fang Wars. Well, that is all I have time for today. Hope to log more soon!

P.S. I'm very sorry I couldn't give a more detailed explanation on how the recipe got stolen, I'll be sure to report the more detailed story next time.
