It was a dark and quiet night; I lay in bed staring at the ceiling, noticing all too much that I was lying here alone. I wondered where I had screwed up; quite obviously something had gone wrong here. There had been so many times that I had thought it was true love, that I had found my soul mate, yet here I am alone, so we know those worked out well right? If only men weren't so damn difficult, I mean come on for creatures that act so simple most of the time they are very hard to deal with.

Anyways, I am Dalma, a 24 year old single woman and I am not at all pleased about this single part. I live in a nice apartment with my oversized lap dog named dingy and my overly opinionated fish named sunshine. It is a nice apartment, because I work hard, so it is not like I need a man to take care of me financially, I have that covered. I really just need one to be around and not be an idiot, which seems to be the part they all have a hard time with.

This last one, Justin, he was cute and he had a job and a car, he had his own place so he seemed like he might be okay, you know not looking for a sugar mama. Things were going well, we met at a coffee shop and hit it off right away. We had dinner that night and things moved along well. By the forth date we had the "exclusive" conversation and we both seemed to think it was a great idea. So there we were after 5 months having coffee at the same coffee shop and this guy walks in and comes over to us. Then him and Justin are all machoing it up with high fives and "wud up, brother"s and I am thinking we have reverted to high school and then the guy is talking about the club last night and how much fun they had. As I go back through my mental notebook I am remembering the phone call I got yesterday at about 3pm.

"Hey babe, I know we were gonna hang tonight but I have got a ton of work to do and was wondering if I could get a rain check". It seems odd because I am pretty certain that Justin work has never involved nightclubs before but I am trying to be a good girlfriend so I don't say anything I just smile and introduce myself to this guy.

"Hi, I am Dalma, I am Justin's girlfriend." I notice the guy look at me funny and then smile at Justin.

"No way man, you have a GIRLFRIEND, I never would have known." I get the strange feeling that this guy is none too smart and that my boyfriend is none to loyal. I don't handle lying well and I have some anger issues so it is really hard for me to not throw my coffee on this guy and throw Justin's coffee on Justin, but I am being cool so I just smile. Finally this guy gets the hint and says his goodbyes and heads out. When I look at Justin he looks like a three year old who just got caught putting the cat in the microwave.

"Babe, I really did have a lot of work to do and then the guys called and it was just too tempting, so I went out with them and I told that guy I had a girlfriend like 100 times, he is just an idiot. I am really sorry, I should have called, and you know I love you, right, babe?"

"Of course, honey, that guy did seem like a total idiot, no big deal. Are you coming over for dinner tonight?" He smiled, and looked so relieved.

"Yeah, I'll be there about 7, love ya." With that he got up, kissed my forehead and went to work. I watched him go and thought about what a special dinner we were going to have tonight. I went to work, checked my messages, yelled at my assistant for coming to work sick and sent her home with a full day's pay(I am not heartless) and struggled through some boring meeting with investors.

All I could think about all day was the dinner plans, I was thinking pasta with meat sauce for Justin and veggie sauce for me, and then a little boat ride with some special dessert and then home for tea before bed. It should be a nice, quiet evening.

I got home showered and dressed and put the pasta and the sauces on the stove. Next I rummaged through the cabinets to find the trusty sleeping pills and started working on the dessert, I figured some yummy pudding would be good and I wouldn't have to eat it because Justin knows I don't eat sweets..
