Once they were several feet outside the house, Union stood before the shadows of the forest. It was night now, and the sky was full of stars that shined brightly in the absence of a moon. “Come out!” Union beckoned. “I can feel each one of your chi (spiritual energy) among the shadows!” Once these words were spoken, three men in jet black armor walked out of the forest. One man had a helmet with the face of a monster, and the mouth and teeth it bore was familiar to the man in the battle previously before.
“So, you are Union?” the monster-faced man asked. “I am,” he replied. “I find that hard to believe, for Union had very long blonde hair and you're a man with black hair, green eyes, and with less that a cow's share of meat on your bones.” Union smirked, “I was forced to stay in hiding because of war-mongers like you, so I had to make a few changes.” “Ha,” the adversary answered back. “If that's the case, then I bet you also lost all of your talents from before.” The other two men in black readied their weapons. “Well, I guess you'll have to find out the hard way then,” Union replied, and with that, he gave out a small command: “Masquerade, Release.”
Once this was said, violet energy charged from his feet up to his head, and the energy threw itself out in a huge flash of light that blinded everyone around him. Once this was said and done, Union regained his appearance from years passed. His brown tabard clothing was underrated next to his large muscular structure and very long blonde hair. The rod he was carrying before had transformed into a long silver and blue sword with a purple handle guard on it. The shape of the blade slight resembled that of both a minute hand and a key.
Amazed by the magnitude of energy that was released from Union's body, the three men in black stepped away in fright from him. The first of the men pointed his scythe at his attacker. “Shadows of illusion! Formation House of Mirrors!” the man yelled. Once the phrase was spoken, the shadows crept up onto the field and formed into a shadowy prison full of pseudo mirror-like walls internally.
While in this prison of darkness, Lily mustered the remained of her strength to cast a spherical shield around both her and William. William, who was worried about his father, tried to go to his aid. However, Union commanded him to stay where he was. “Because I'm about to show you why I am the legendary Union,” he told his son.
From the mirrors, the black armored foes dashed in and out of their illusion, and tried to attack Union by this method. However, their plan was foiled because after blocking the first initial dashes made by the two men, Union took his sword and ripped thru one of them from the skull down to the feet in the middle of their dash.
His partner, the bearer of the scythe, saw this and retaliated with his own type of attack. “Mirrors! Explode!” he shouted, and the illusionary house blew apart, sending shadowy pieces of glass everywhere. William and Lily were forced to pool their energy together in order to withstand the attack. Keita in the house also struggled against this move.
Once the shadows landed back onto the ground, Union was seen again. He had somehow managed to defend against the attack that was released. “But how!” the scythe wielder exclaimed. “Simple,” Union informed. “Your technique relied on the power of shadows, or the absorption of light. I, instead created a field of energy to reflect your energy back upon itself, just like a mirror.”
This news enraged the attacker, and by spinning his scythe around, he charged in a yell at Union. Sidestepping the attack, Union took his sword to his opponent's neck and decapitated the foe. Once that was said and done, the last of the fighters remained. His armor had altered itself during the fight, and now he took on the appearance of a large bear.
“Brute strength, huh?” Union asked his attacker. “Yes,” the last opponent replied. “It's the best I can do against someone like you.” “You could surrender,” Union suggested. “And be dishonored?” the adversary hashed back. Union then shrugged, “Well, suit yourself then. But don't think I'll feel sorry for this afterwards.”
Union shifted his feet to the right of him, and began to move in incredible burst of speed at his opponent. Forming a star on each rotation, Union sped past his foe. His opponent tried to catch him in mid stride, but his attempts fell short. “Why don't you attack?” the opponent asked. “I told you I'll fight.”
“And I said I wouldn't feel sorry for this,” Union told him. He lifted his sword in the air, and the stars that he ran thru glowed in a brilliant white light. “Tensa Discipline Number .4: Infernal Banishment.” Once it was spoken, white chains came out of the star and encased the foe, preventing his movement. “You bastard! You knew this was a were-beast transformation! How dare you pull something so cheap!”
“Hey, all's fare in the love of war,” Union said with a laugh. He held out his other hand to his opponent and closed it. By doing so, this prompted the chains to swivel thru his foe, ripping his body in white energy and destroying the remains.
Once the battle was over, William walked over to his dad. “Father,” he asked. “Is this the legacy you left with the clans?” “No son,” Union replied. “This is the legacy I left that has scarred the world…”
