The Crevice

My own story about my own dreams and flashbacks.

Lightning flashed brightening the sky when suddenly my brakes went out on my car. I gently but at the same time powerfully slid for what seemed like minutes, but was only a few seconds, as if I had just been pushed with the greatest force off of a runway of a navy ship by a catapult. Just as I started to slow down I found myself sliding down into a type of crevice with the slipperiest mud almost like ice. Finally after how ever many minutes of sliding and spinning I reached the bottom of whatever I was in that I just know had not been there the day before.

Yesterday, a few miles from town, my friend and I had taken a bike ride. We took a break to stop and take a look at the wonderful view that was just a few miles from the city with our eyes fixed, looking where the crevice would be.

I got out of my car and stumbled on a rock. What was this place? Why was it here? I asked myself as I was very confused. I kept asking myself questions as I explored this place. It was very muddy and seemed like it appeared just hours ago. This place was of the greatest mystery to me. I wanted to find out more about it. I wanted to explore it.

About an hour into my exploring I had found a hole, a hole just wide enough for two small people, or one big person, to fit through. My eyes immediately went to my watch and I saw that it was 1:26 A.M. I walked up the crevice, about the size of five football stadiums and deep enough to fit a tall building in it, while steam from the dirt crept up into my clothes and onto my face.

I finally reached the top about half an hour later. My watch still said 1:26. I took a few steps forward and it changed to 1:58. I kept walking, thinking that it was just the battery dying. I looked back at the crevice but saw nothing.

As I walked home on this road leading to the city this late after midnight it started to sprinkle, then rain and eventually started to poor. I looked back once more down the long road I was walking and saw a figure near the edge of the crevice. I could only make out the shape of it. The figure made a circular shape with its arms and the way its legs pointed out. I looked the other way towards the city and then back to the crevice. It was still there then disappeared within a split second. I picked up my pace due to the rain and the small amount of fear inside me mixed with mysteriousness and curiosity about the figure.

I was in a deep dreaming state, so deep and involved in my dream I doubt I would ever wake up until it was over. Running through the darkest darkness as if I had been engulfed by pure emptiness, so dark and black I could feel it, almost tough it. I felt like I was the darkness. All I could physically feel was the glue-like suction of the mud under my feet, trying so hard to run instead of being swallowed by the mud, Running from only sounds I hear, very frightening sounds though, like growling and howling, this is what I was running from. At the same time I didn't know what I was running from, I just didn't like it, the sounds, and this place... whatever was happening to me.

It continued, I ran for what seemed like hours. Then it stopped faster then it started, it all just stopped, the sounds, everything. I kept on running, and running, I don't know why, my legs just continued to move. I had no idea where I was going but I ran and ran away from what was probably not even there anymore.

I finally fell, tripped over what might have felt like a body, a human body, one that had been there for centuries already decayed to the bone. I felt around for the body and found a bony hand. I was about the hell at the top of my lungs, but I though about it, and I did not want those things, what ever they were, to start chasing me again. I felt around the corpse in hope of finding something to guide me, a stick maybe, all I found were little fragments of cloth. After a few minutes of searching more I realized that I could barely see the outline of my hand. I looked everywhere and noticed an orange glow. I started to walk towards the glow but had second thought.
