The Lost Coin

Let us not be discouraged when in life we lost something very precious.

A poor widow, who had only one silver coin left in her purse, decided to buy a loaf of bread and a slice of cheese. She hurried out from her shanty to the nearby store. But in her haste, she tripped and fell on the ground. The coin fell out from her hand and rolled somewhere down the alley. Realizing that she lost her last and only coin, she stood up to search for it. With anger in her heart, she defiantly looked at the sky and cursed God.

"God, you are very bad and cruel!" she cried out. "You know that it was my last coin, why did you allow it to be lost? Now, what will I do?"
Desperately, she tried her best to search for the lost coin. While looking left and right, she spotted a shining thing from a distance. "My silver coin!" she sighed to herself. The widow then rushed to it and reaching out her hand, she could not believe what she saw: with her silver coin lay a diamond ring."

In life, God allows us to lose in order to gain.

What a beautiful story. It's like it was apart of the plan of fate for the woman to lose the coin and then find it laying next to the diamond ring. No matter how bad things may seem, eveything somehow works out for the best. A great piece of writing.

Take Care,

I enjoy your work. I hope she asked God for her forgiveness because he was bestowing upon her a gift to ease her troubles.

This is so absolutely beautiful! And, I KNOW it to be true wholeheartedly. About a month ago, I went thru some tough times, had to give up some things, but now suddenly I have so many new blessings in my life - it's amazing!

Blessings.

Sincerely,

Yes, I agree with this. Oftentimes God leads us to the best he has for us by letting us let go of everything we have. I have an experience of this kind too. It was amazing how God led me to what is best for me. Thank you maryspaul.

Great story..Everything happens for good and for a reason but sometimes when unpleasant circumstances strike, we tend to react such way, as human as we are.

This little story reminds me why people should not be mad at God for unanswered prayers.

Unanswered prayers means that god has other plans in store for us.

God knows what is best and we willl realize only later that we did not get what we prayed for because god had something better in store for us.

Love and bless god always. He knows what he is doing and what is best for us.

MarySPaul, this is an excellent short story. I love it and know that sometimes things of this nature really do happen. What about the woman, though, did she ask forgiveness for blaming God so quickly? I love the piece, but would liked for it to have been a bit longer and maybe that she didn't actually find the coin only the ring and see was she as quick to thank God as she was to blame Him.

When I lost my Father, it was so painful but really very painful for me that I can't even express it in words.
Now, I could feel my Father's presence wherever I am and I didn't blame God for this.
Thank you
