Well, it's that time of year again. Back to school. Some kids dread the first day of school, some kids wait all summer for it, and some people take school during the summer. Well, for me, school starts on August 25th, a week earlier than it has ever been for me. I go to school in Saskatchewan, Canada. The regular school day for us is 9:00AM-3:30PM. We have a half-day on Fridays once per month when we get to leave at noon because the teachers from the district have a meeting. We get close to 3 weeks at Christmas, a week at Easter, and a week in March for spring break.
Our classes are different every day, but we go by a schedule. There is a cycle of 6 days, each day with a different order of classes. The usual classes are Phys. Ed., English, History, Science, Math and a few others. There are also some optional classes to take. We have to take woodshop, where we do woodwork, welding, photography and drafting, or we can do home economics, where we do cooking and sewing. Another optional class is Music where we do choir and drama.
I enjoy our classes, give you lots of options for your future career choice, I think that is what is most important in school. School should be diverse and new so that you can understand all the possibilities and get to see which ones you are most interested in and the ones that you would maybe like to consider for a job. Schools should offer more classes like shop where you can get hands on with stuff so that you can gain experience in other areas even if it doesn't have anything to do with what you want to do.
