Some people have told me that I don't take anything seriously or that I laugh at the most inopportune times. Well, I believe that it is important to smile and laugh, so I always look for the funny side of things.
So, I decided that I would search for every day news stories and see if I could find something in them that is amusing.
911 Police blotter. Danville Advocate-Messenger. Danville, Kentucky.
12:17 a.m., third party call of a vehicle stolen from Best Western; it belongs to a guest, and his girlfriend took the vehicle; unknown direction of travel or description; officer advised call was unfounded and alcohol was involved.
Now, was the alcohol involved in making the determination that the call was unfounded or was the guest too drunk to realize who took his car?

1:21 a.m., report of about 20 cows in the road on U.S. 150; possible owner notified.
Now, that is funny regardless of how you read it. It doesn't say they are 'on' the road, it says the cows are 'in' the road. I certainly think that 20 cows would definitely be in the road, and I hope they were returned to their 'rightful' owner.

11:44 a.m., report of an elderly female driving a gold-colored car is traveling wrong way on the North Danville bypass.
Now, I can't help but think that there might be a connection between this and the Best Western heist. I don't understand why the officer didn't determine that alcohol was involved in this case.
Of course there were calls that were of a much more serious nature that I wouldn't even attempt to poke fun at, but this quick look into the life of a small town police officer has to bring a smile to your face and cause you to shake your head.
I hope you enjoyed this short attempt at looking on the bright side, and I will go back to surfing the Internet for odd but amusing stories.
