I was 47 when the flood hit Utah. I think that my most interesting thought was that my husband and my boys went downtown and filled sandbags. They had a really good time. It didn't scare me, because I thought the flood was under control. I actually thought that it was amazing that there can be a flood in Utah! I was living in this same exact house at the time, so it didn't affect me.
My community was affected because everybody from everywhere had to help each other, so I thought it was a community effort that helped us. I don't remember anything about the installation of the Great Salt Lake pipes; I only remember them doing it. They government brought in the sand and the bags; they also called out to organize the people. I had a bunch of little kids, so I just stayed home and watched the T.V. and watched my husband and my kids help! The flood didn't really inconvenience me, because I wasn't near the flood at all.
