Gone are the days when people lived as a single unit. Gone are the days when a person could tell you every detail about his neighbors. Gone are the days when my neighbor knew I was sick and sent me a bunch of flowers!
The world is fast approaching its doom. We claim that we are far better and enlightened than we were ages ago. We claim that we belong to a global village. We claim that science has brought advancements and ease into our lives. What is the use of such advancement if we don’t know who lives next door? What is the use of such advancement if we can’t spare the time to take our kids to the park?
When we claim to belong to a global village, we have to apply that definition to what is expected of a global village. No! What do we see today?
Dawn rises, parents rush to the office, children go to school, and in the evening the whole family comes home, grabs a quick dinner, and goes to bed. The discussion on everyone’s lips is how to make money!
Money, money, money! Money is the root of all evil! Person fights against person for money, nation fights against nation for money. Greed for what the other has is the norm of the day. Competing with one another in all areas of life is justified!
It is important we understand the dangerous path we are treading and be warned before it is too late. A person must regard the welfare of his fellow beings. Nations must stop usurping the rights of its countrymen in particular and other nations in general. Decision-makers must diligently and honestly discharge their duties with the welfare of its people at heart. Nations must show tolerance and respect for one another so that peace prevails in the world!
