Originality, taken a step further….
In version one I rambled on about the subject of someone having an original thought, and how I believed that most probably have not. My goal now is to expand upon that and show you a little more on how I developed this disbelief in originality and opinions. Influence will be the main stay for my opinion so keep that in mind as you develop a counter offensive.
I was talking with my Ex-wife the other night and she mentioned that she had to write a business plan for one of her MBA classes. That simple statement sparked the interest of original thought in school. If you are given a structured system for learning, you are learning based on a specific set of parameters. She informed me that their business plan had to be original and could not follow another company such as Adidas or Wal-Mart. I then asked her where she learned how to write a business plan. It was explained to me that she learned how to write a business plan in school based on certain principles and practices. With that being said, I asked her how the business plan she was writing could possibly be original. The only way to be, somewhat original, is to come up with a new model for writing a business plan. She argued that the content of the business plan is what makes it original. That sparked the question of when was the first business plan written, and who came up with it. I would imagine that the person who wrote it had the idea of financial or economic gain. The idea to sale something is not a new idea. The thought of making money is surely not an original thought either. At what point, I guess is what I am saying, do you become original? What portion of what any one person takes on is original?
I flew across the ocean,
I sailed across the sea,
I put a car in motion,
I set a nation free,
Original are these things if we look only skin deep,
But what made these extraordinary people take this leap,
Is there a force behind the mind,
A guiding light to lead the blind,
Religion could step in and take the lead on this mystery,
Or some might decide to reflect on mans' history,
Evolution and Science,
Revolution and Defiance,
All these things are a part of our past,
But what part of this will make our kind last,
My thoughts, though in my mind not original, lead me to believe that we have a greater need to fill. More to come….
