Overqualified

Can someone be to good for a job?

So you go for a job interview and you hand in your resume and than maybe fill out an application and than the interviewee comes out and tells you to come in their office. So you sit down and they ask you a few questions about where you have worked and your educational background and the normal questions. They seem interested and you defiantly want too work for them as well. So you go home thinking everything is all good and than you hear nothing from the company and when you call, you cant get a hold of the person who interviewed you.

Than you get a letter or maybe a call back saying you did not get the position because you were overqualified. It happens here and there but how can someone be overqualified for any job? If they have all the requirements, than why can't they do a certain job? Now someone can certainly be under qualified for a job but overqualified, that sounds kind of ridicules. Even if the company thinks the person, if hired, would leave after awhile, it still is ridicules because if the person wants work than I doubt that they will leave.
