There are many ways to self medicate and not all involve drugs.Take myself for instance.I have bi-polar and schizophrenia in my family tree.My biggest fear is ending up like the rest of the family that has it.
Stress,keeping things inside,alcohol,drugs and depression.Why would I want to take all the medications they would prescribe me if I get this medical condition.I choose ab-stance. Ab-stance from all the above items as much as possible. It is not possible to stay away from all.Okay, I have a few drinks on special occasions.If you want to stress me step off.But if you stay, expect for me to say what I think because I would not want to keep it in.Last but not least we have depression.I try to stay up and active in all aspects of my life. This leaves me no time to sit and get depressed.It has been working for me so far.
What if I told you the real reason behind self medicating.I do not have insurance and could not afford to go to a doctor and pay for prescriptions. I actually just started thinking how can I stop this from happening to me and fix it myself. I thought about all the things listed above and stayed as far away from them as possible.I think it works but if I am out and someone sees me acting a little weirder then normal tell me and if that fails call me a doctor.
