Inspired by Taare Zameen Par (Stars on Earth), a movie about a dyslexic boy who is constantly tormented by teachers, students, and is not given a chance until one teacher sees that the child has a learning disability and begins a transformation for this child.
Children light up our world. Their innocent smiles, their laughter drains out all of the stressors in life. From their obedient natures to their naughty tricks, children are the future for what we work towards.
Yet what about a child who cannot encompass the world in its entirety. A child who sees q as p and b as d. A child who thinks the ball is far as 2 km when its right at their feet. A child who draws with his heart, who sings with his heart, who finds meaning in nature and the wind it throws on its face. A chld who cannot button up his shirt but tries every day knowing that its hard for him. A child who cannot write as the letters dance in his head.
Children with learning disabilities are often encompassed by their inability to be mainstream that they shy away. Most often than not they are described as children with behavior problems because they do not understand the commands given to them and thus act out. Think, how would you feel if someone can't understand your feelings, the frustration that may be going through your mind is enough to cause you to act out. But with a little direction, with a little support, with a little love, the frustration can be minimized and the loneliness these children may feel can be diminished.
To care is quite important. In care we find cures to diseases, pain is dismissed and a child is aware that someone loves him, a kiss of love, a hug of love all to show that we care, we saw that we love you, we say to them come to us in any way possible regardless of any falters or mishaps. A cynic is a man who knows the price of everything but the value of nothing (Oscar Wilde). Many of us think we know everything, but most often than not, we do not even understand the smallest concepts.
The world has many gems, espeically ones who have changed the world because they saw the world through a unique set of eyes. They knew they were not 'normal' They knew that they were not like others. But they knew that to be mainstream was to dissolve and to be unique was to be be free.
Every child is a star. Every star shines uniquely. Every uniqueness is art.
