Sunrise, and Sunset

These are some reasons why a sunset can actually be beneficial to the soul.

Pondering That Moment

Have you ever just sat back and watched a sunset with the love of your life? Or watched the sunrise with that special someone who has stolen your heart? There is so much tranquility in holding times like these close to your heart. I wonder just how much that other person appreciates it, and if they share that same magical moment.

As A Child

When I was just a child, my mother would drag us out of the house at around 6a.m. to watch the sunrise.  Of course, we would all go kicking and screaming crying, "It's too early, I want to go back to bed!" And yet, my mother would reply, "You'll thank me one day."  At the time I was too young to grasp the concept of what those times really meant to her.  Yet, I must admit, by the time it was over, we were all caught in some sort of magical daze and mezmerized by the beauty of mother nature.

Getting Older

As I grew more mature with age and started noticing boys, I remember a time where I spent that same magical type moment with a summer love.  At that time I was so much in love, that every moment we spent together seemed to get frozen in time.  And so, I remember the day we intwined by a river bed, next to the bridge, and looking up towards the sun setting right in front of us.  It was beautiful, and when the time came for us to part ways, I cried of course.  And now, years down the road, all I seem to remember was that wonderful day that we shared with mother nature.

I look back on all the wonderful times that I spent with those that I loved and wonder, did they share that same excitement with me?  Did any of them appreciate the God given gift to share such a beautiful moment with one another.  And did any of them even notice it as clearly as I did?

I have since become a mother myself, and wish so much to share those same joys with my child.  In hopes that he may too one day remember sharing those times with me.  Then, God willing, he may too share those moments with someone that he loves with all his heart.  I treasure the simple joys in life, and I hope to pass on the tradition of sunrises and sunsets with my son too.
