Super heroes have fascinated and enthralled millions of fans since the very first super hero hit comic book pages. The different super heroes vary depending on the generation, but the fascination with them never seems to go away.
What is the secret to the super heroes longevity? I believe the key to the super heroes longevity is that they inspire people. While granted their unique costumes don't seem to hurt either.
All people want to be inspired, motivated to achieve something greater than themselves.
Every time a police officer or firefighter goes to work, they are risking their lives for the greater good. Early comic writers got inspiration for their work by actively and painstakingly observing the world around them.
One of my favorite super heroes growing up was Batman,(not the campy spoof one they used to show on the old t.v. series, but the one from the comic books) You may wonder why, and the reason is simple, Batman was a common, daily individual without super powers who simply wanted to serve the greater good.
Basically, Batman was a hero we could all relate to, he didn't need all the flashy super powers other comic characters of the day had. Personally I think he was better than most super heroes for not having super powers, it gave him a more realistic quality that few super heroes have.
I believe to some extent there is super hero quality in all of us, while we may not have super powers, we can still make the world we live in a better place. Reach into your heart and nurture your inner super hero.
