The Election

My feelings on our new President.

As I sat watching the election last week, I just knew Obama was going to win the seat. I had watched the campaign for so long and listened to each side and what they would do if elected. Of course I know they are both politicians and what they promise does not always happen once elected, but I did listen to both sides.

I was not impressed with McCain's side and the things they said about the other side. Low is how I would categorize the comments made. I was appalled the day before the election when I turned on the news and there standing in front of the world, a man I didn't recognize. It was Palins father standing at the podium stating,"I taught her how to field dress a moose, and tomorrow you will see her field dress a donkey". How could anyone with any culture at all say those things on national television? Where did they find this moron?

There were many reasons I do believe that the Republicans didn't win and here are my top three:

1. Palin and not wanting her to end up being vice president, she is a twit!

2.Spending so much money on her clothes when the Country is in a recession didn't settle well with many Americans.

3. McCain's age

Obama on the other hand, didn't stoop this low and I don't believe he ever said anything that wasn't true about their side. He was always up front, honest and caring about what is going on in the world. I do believe the best man won as do most Americans.

It is time for a change, and I honestly believe we are in for that in so many ways. Watching the people of our Country stand and cry as they saw who they wanted to win, win. I sat with tears flowing as I saw the faces of whites, Blacks, Hispanics, Africans, the world and its many colors has become one union.

The morning after the election I was listening to the radio on my commute to work and could not believe what some were saying. Crying cause the republican didn't win. Saying things like Obama is a Muslim, a terrorist. How uncultured can these people get? All you have to do is listen and know these things are untrue!

In the end I guess it is true what they say about it only taking one bad apple to spoil the entire basket, and some Americans really need to watch, look and listen to see the truth not spoil the basket for all of us.

I liked the apple bit a lot, it holds true for any country and for the whole world, too :)

I could not of said it any better. McCain's side got low and dirty using fear tactics. Palin was caught several times disagreeing with things that McCain had said. Anyhow, thanks for making me a friend, Linda.

The world watched and I think the change was welcomed by the majority. It is sit back and wait time, for all to see if Mr Obama can strutt his stuff. Good article, thanks for sharing your views.

Well let's hope Obama has indeed good plans.
He only forgot one thing, he made plans for the next 40 years but may only serve 8 years ;)

This line:"Saying things like Obama is a Muslim, a terrorist"
Might implicit all Muslims are terrorists, and that certainly is untrue, so sad some Americans think that!

Dear Lindalulu,

So, how do you really feel about the candidates :-)

As for me, I saw plenty of mudslinging going around from both sides. I tried a different approach with this election: civility. I was trying to encourage all of us to treat each other with more respect than the candidates were treating each other. I'm with you that our leaders need a transformation, but I'm not comfortable calling them 'morons' and 'twits'. But maybe 'uncultured' is okay :-) For more info, read my article on civility: 3 Groundrules for Americans to Play by in the Runup to the Election.

Have a nice weekend!

I am a firm believer that the economy made the difference. 60% of voters said that the main issue was the economy. If the economy had no wrecked, I think that the election would have been very close.
