We can give it a meaning, and we can give it an explanation but can we answer what is identity? It isn't something that we can answer for other people, just what we can answer for our selves.
Identity is someone's personal and public behaviors. We can identify some one by what they have done in their life. Identity is the individual characteristics by which a thing or person is recognized or known by. Identity makes us what we are and since there can only be one of you every one has there own separate identity. Our identity is defined by the smallest of things such as freckles on your face or an extra finger on your hand. The way we talk, the way we walk, the way we do our hair all contribute to our identity. With out our identity then who you are and what defines you can not exist. Our identity is what makes every human in the world different. Your identity is not a fixed thing it doesn't stay the same there are many things that can change your identity for example changing your hair color or it could be something like witnessing a murder and having to testify in court.
To me, identity is something that defines who you are, it is what you have done, who you have met, it is who your influences where when you were a kid and what happened to you as a child. It is every bit of your life rolled up into who you are today . So if you know someone's identity then you know everything about that person down to how many pimples they have. Many people have strived to find their identity and many people just know what there identity is, but I think that you can't just simply find your identity because your identity is everything that defines you from some one else so finding your identity would be like finding yourself.
In all, I think that only one person and one person alone can answer the question of what is identity, and that person is you no can tell you what your identity is and how it should be because there is always a way to change your identity, there is always something that someone doesn't know about you so they can't say for sure what your identity is.
