 | | I Am a Vietnam War Veteran | | by Westbrook, Dec 30, 2008 | | We fought a ferocious war; many were wounded or died in Vietnam. We were boys who found ourselves fighting with no homeland support. It was as if we were outcasts, with no country. nly our families cared whether we would come home. We were hated in Vietnam and hated in our own country. | | Comments(15) Liked It: 7 |

 | | Operation: DFAC - Can I Get a Pizza | | by Tomlin, Dec 21, 2008 | | The following story is true, and happened in a Dining Facility (or as the Army calls them DFACs) somewhere in Afghanistan. You should understand that inside the wire we as soldiers, and those civilians who are all proudly serving their country ,are hardly pressed for the basic amenities of life. It’s when you get outside the wire on those lonely patrols or at some backwards outpost that those on the true lines start to appreciate the things we all cherish at home, such as a hot meal and hot shower not shared between you and a hundred other people. So at the time this happened my mission had left me inside the wire looking like a REMF (ask your nearest infantry man for interpretation). I felt like one too, hence I wrote the story. So to the guys on the line really eating MREs, and the food service workers just trying to do their job, thanks for the memories. | | Comments(0) Liked It: 0 |
