True Life Story: The Cotton Sheets Were Freezing!
by Charles Moorhen, May 19, 2008
Winters in our little prefab were cold. With the lack of any heating other than the coal fire in the living-room, coupled with the bitter winds that whipped inland from the English Channel during those long, dark months, going to bed as a small boy in the 1950's was without doubt an uncomfortable experience.

True Life Story: and the Tears Trickled Down the Little Boy's Face
by Charles Moorhen, May 18, 2008
I have been playing drums throughout much of my life at one time or another. I was inspired in my formative years by the music of Jack Parnell, Victor Sylvester, Glenn Miller and other big bands on the wireless, and by the music of The Shadows, The Beatles and the band that had every parent in the 1960’s shaking their heads in despair.

True Life Story: Less of a School, More of a Prison
by Charles Moorhen, May 18, 2008
The school-dinners that I was forced to endure as an extremely reluctant pupil, throughout the 1950’s, and early 1960’s, left a lot to be desired. And as if thick, brown gravy, lumpy mashed potato...

True Life Story: The Baffling Mystery of the Double-decker Train
by Charles Moorhen, May 18, 2008
Little did I realize, as I waited on a platform at London’s Waterloo East station on one particular day in the late 1950’s, that I was about to witness, albeit fleetingly and purely by chance, one of Britain’s railway experiments that far from living up to its expectations, turned out to be a ghastly and expensive failure. It was a brief encounter that created in its wake a mystery which would remain unsolved for almost forty years.

DBS Surgery Part Five - Done at Last!
by Karen Gross, Apr 27, 2008
I made it! Now to wait for the incisions to heal. In six weeks they will hook me up to a computer for my first tune up. I really do feel like a Borg (for those of you non-Trekkies, that’s a race of humanoids who are part machine, like Seven of Nine on Voyager). Only, I’m a bit shorter and rounder that Seven…. Maybe once I can exercise again I’ll get my body back?

DBS Surgery Part One - Post Surgery Daze
by Karen Gross, Apr 27, 2008
April 14: It has been four days since my surgery, and I am still in a fog. The surgeon was pleased with the results. I have a reverse Mohawk hairstyle, with 18 staples, and it feels like they each weigh a ton. The surgery was 11 hours long, and I had to be awake so that they could map my brain.

My Job
by huskyrex, Apr 8, 2008
Being a utility boy isn't the most ideal job but there's a lot of lessons to learn if you're one!
